Early in life I found that I had too much energy to spend, and I was never an extrovert or one to appreciate competitive sports, all I had was my own imagination. As a young adult, I started investing a good amount of time reading and sharing my thoughts on the internet, consuming boring encyclopedias, ebooks, online lectures and so on. This unfortunately came at the cost of hours of useless debates on social networks, which I tend to regret and avoid as much as I can. I want structure and purpose.
Later on I found that studying and writing often puts me into this “state of flow” to which I consider myself deeply dependent today. Being focused and feeling productive is great, I’m sure people can relate.
I found enjoyment learning and sharing about economics, more specifically applied macroeconomics, along with statistics, finance and philosophy as related hobbies. I spend my free time learning these skills to then apply in my day-to-day life, sometimes just writing equations down, playing around with the algebra of it. I try to squeeze them into my work life as much as I can to make it interesting. I know this is boring to most, but I am in good terms with myself at this point.
The idea of this blog is to commit to a study and content creation routine. Maybe someone else might find it useful down the road. With any luck this blog also incentivises others to share their own original thoughts.
I appreciate the notion that a good idea can transcend generations. Intellectual work is what distinguishes man from animal. I know of no nobler effort than this.
Even if you're not into it, it is very hard to deny passion. I can only hope to inspire. Welcome.
